The Agency for Higher Education of Republic of Srpska organized on January 12, a meeting with the Hungarian Accreditation Committee (Magyar Felsőoktatási Akkreditációs Bizottság - MAB) and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of East Sarajevo, where they discussed the preparation for the procedure of international accreditation of medical study programs from two public universities in the Republic of Srpska, which will be carried out by the Agency of Hungary with the consent of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
MAB is one of the few European and world agencies that has passed the procedure of external evaluation by the WFME, thereby gaining the right to carry out procedures for the international accreditation of medical faculties in relation to the standards of the WFME.
At the meeting, a schedule of activities was agreed, which provides that after the signing of the accreditation agreement, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Banja Luka and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of East Sarajevo will prepare self-evaluation reports in accordance with the Standards of the Hungarian Agency for Medical Education aligned with WFME standards, which will be followed by visits of panels of experts.
The diplomas of students of two public medical faculties are already recognized in the world, but international accreditation will bring even better visibility of two medical faculties from Republic of Srpska abroad and facilitate the procedures for recognizing the diplomas of students who complete integrated medical studies at these faculties.
The international accreditation of the two public medical faculties is of particular importance for foreign students studying at these faculties, who come from more than 20 countries around the world, which will facilitate their return to the labor market in their countries of origin.
The meeting was attended by the dean of the Faculty of Medicine in East Sarajevo, prof. Dejan Bokonjic, PhD, who at the same time represented the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Banja Luka, director for international relations of MAB Peter Lakatos, PhD, with his colleagues, head of the team for self-evaluation of the Faculty of Medicine in Foca, asst. prof. Nenad Markovic, PhD, and assistant director for accreditation and international cooperation of the Agency Duska Radmanovic.
