Sector for initial accreditation organizes and implements the procedure of initial accreditation of higher education institutions and study programs in accordance with the Standards for initial accreditation and laws and bylaws in the field of quality assurance, prepares, proposes and implements procedures prescribed for adoption of Standards for initial accreditation of higher education institutions and study programs , proposes laws and bylaws in the field of quality assurance, participates in the development of Guidelines for the establishment and maintenance of quality assurance systems of higher education institutions, monitors the development of international standards in the field of quality assurance in higher education, monitors and updates the List of reviewers, holds trainings of reviewers who participate in the external evaluation of higher education institutions and study programs for the purpose of initial accreditation, forms a preliminary proposal of the composition of the Commission of reviewers for external evaluation and gives recommendations on initial accreditation, coordinates the preparation of reports on external evaluation for the purpose of initial accreditation, cooperates with all stakeholders in the field of quality assurance in higher education, collects and processes data on the higher education system and other systems with which higher education is connected, maintains and improves the quality assurance system of the Agency, proposes improvements of quality infrastructure in higher education of the Republic of Srpska, participates in domestic and international projects in the field of quality assurance, participates in the preparation of thematic analyzes within the scope of work of the Agency and conducts external independent periodic assessment of the internal quality assurance system-audit.
