On April 7, 2023, the Agency for Higher Education of the Republika Srpska adopted a new Rulebook on the Procedure for the Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Qualifications with the aim of reducing the fee for the recognition procedure, as well as to enable the recognition procedure for certificates confirming completion of studies. The most significant change prescribed by the new Rulebook is that the amount of the fee for conducting the recognition procedure is reduced from 300.00KM to 150.00KM. Also, the application process itself has been made easier for applicants because the volume of the required documentation has been reduced.
The new provisions of the Rulebook prescribe that certain categories are exempted from the payment of fees. The categories that are exempted from paying the fee are persons without both parents up to the age of 26, persons with disabilities, categories I to VI; children of fallen soldiers and children of war-disabled veterans, categories I to VI.
One of the main motives for adopting the new Rulebook is to make it easier for students who studied abroad to return to the Republic of Srpska and find employment.
