The round table "Recognition of non-formal and informal learning in BiH" was organized in Sarajevo on June 2, 2022, as part of the IPA project Education for Employment. The round table was attended by representatives of the Agency for Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, as well as representatives of higher education institutions and other bodies responsible for higher education.
At the very beginning, the representative of the Center for Information and Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education (CIP) introduced the participants to the ENIC / NARIC network (European Network of Information Centers in the European Region/National Academic Recognition Information Centers in the European Union), the management structure of the Network, its purpose and the main principles of the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region - the Lisbon Convention.
Experts on the project Education for Employment presented the purpose and process of recognition of non-formal and informal learning, ie recognition of prior learning (RPL). It was emphasized that the process of recognition of non-formal and informal learning determines the level of acquired learning outcomes, competencies or standards that an individual has achieved so as to start a qualification or partially or fully complete a qualification. Recognition provides an individual with better employability and a better position for further career development, because the formalization of existing competencies creates the basis for building new and additional qualifications.
The participants of the conference were also presented with a model rulebook on the recognition of non-formal and informal learning for the purpose of continuing education, after which an interesting discussion followed.
